1 vs 100: One Big Trivia Party

Game shows have really come a long way, especially trivia shows. The latest and perhaps the greatest version is the hit 1 vs 100. Like many trivia shows of the past, a contestant is trying to answer as many trivia questions correctly in order to win really big money. What makes 1 vs 100 unique is that the contestant must beat a "mob" of 100 other players in order to win the money. When the contestant looks out and faces the "mob" it really becomes one big trivia party.

How 1 vs 100 Works

Each show pits a chosen contestant against 100 people. The trivia question can come from any field: history, current events, sports, politics, culture, anything. The questions are in multiple choice format. Everyone sees three answers. One is correct and two are wrong. First, everyone in the mob chooses an answer. Then the contestant chooses. Next it is time to reveal the right answer to everyone. All the members of the mob who guessed wrong are eliminated. The amount the contestant can win increases with each mob member eliminated. However, to win the money, the contestant must answer the question correctly. So as each round continues, the mob gets smaller and smaller and the amount at stake gets higher and higher. The whole thing becomes one giant trivia party, and that's what 1 vs 100 is all about.

Who is in the 1 vs 100 Mob?

Each show, the mob is different. Sometimes celebrities like Kevin Federline are part of the group trying to beat the contestant. Super-model Fabio Lanzoni also appeared as a mob member in an early episode. In a bit of an off-the-wall episode, Oscar the Grouch was in the mob. (Once, a chimpanzee actually appeared pushing buttons at random. He actually answered the first question correctly.) What makes 1 vs 100 the favorite trivia party show of so many people, is that you never know who is going to be in the mob.

Play Along with 1 vs 100 for a Great Trivia Party Game

A great idea is to host your own trivia party and invite your friends to play along with 1 vs 100. You can either play the role of the contestant or be part of the mob. Make sure to keep track of scores and see who is the best at answering trivia questions correctly. You could even give out your own prizes.
