What Is Casino War?
Casino War is probably the simplest casino table game available. It reminds you of those childhood games of war where each one shows a card and the highest card wins.
Cards are valued according to their face values with the Ace the highest. The suits are unimportant. Online and land based Casino War are played with from one to six standard 52-card decks which are shuffled after every hand.
The dealer and the player are dealt a card after placing their ante bets, and whoever receives the highest card wins. If they both receive cards of the same value (a tie), you, the player, can choose to "surrender" losing half your bet, or, you may choose to "go to war" with the dealer.
If you choose to go to war against the dealer, you must double your bet. Then the dealer will "burn" (deal) three cards face down and turn up one card for both the player and himself. Whichever hand holds the highest of these cards wins the whole shebang.
There is also a "side tie bet" in Casino War which must be placed at the same time as the Ante bet. This is a wager that the first two cards dealt will create a "tie". Since a tie in the first two cards is very difficult to get, this is called a "sucker bet" and is created to increase the house take. Many online casinos will offer a bonus if a war results in a second tie.
A "Sort-Of" History of Casino War
It is pretty much impossible to really give a history of Casino War. Probably as far back as the cave man, there must have been some kind of betting or wagering on who would get the highest score or number of "something". It could have been animal skins, markings on stones (similar to dice), or, eventually, cards.
Anyone who has ever bet on who would pull the highest card has actually played Casino War. Amongst the card games we played as children, Casino War was my favorite, except that we just called it "War". Once the game of war moved into the casinos and was labeled "Casino War", it became a bit more sophisticated - only because you could then gamble on the results.
Winning at Casino War
There is very little advice one can give on "how to win" at the game of Casino War. It is completely based on luck of the draw. No one can foretell which cards will come up so that there is absolutely no strategy.
However, some players claim that your chances for winning are better if:
you always go to war on a tie
never wager the tie side bet
Casino War is one of those card games totally created for new online gamblers and players looking to relax after playing some of the more nerve racking and stressful table games.
