Cribbage Played with up to 4 Players
Cribbage which is also known as Crib is an old English card game that can be played with two to four players and is played with one deck of a 52 card park. Jokers are not used when playing Cribbage. When playing Cribbage you will also need the famous Cribbage score board and of course pegs or virtual pegs if you are playing online to keep score. As card games go, Cribbage is fun and exciting but also very rewarding if you get the upper hand i.e. have more points than the other opponents. The whole game of Cribbage is based around the point system. Points are gained from the different cards that you hold and the combinations in which you lay them down.
Card Games Goal of 31
Each player is dealt between 5-6 cards and he can review his cards and then discard 1 -2 of them so that he is left with 4 cards. The game then commences with the remaining deck being cut and the top card set to one side, this is known as the crib card. If the crib card is a Jack, the dealer already gains 2 points. Players then take turns in laying different valued cards until they have no more cards left or they have reached the value of 31. Players are not allowed to go over 31 and if they get to a point that they will go over 31 with laying an extra card they have to stop and call the game. Other players then continue until they reach 31 or as close to. If a player manages to make the stack of cards exactly 31 then he gains an extra 2 points. The final winner i.e. the player that gets closest to 31 receives a single point.
Additional Cribbage Points
When playing Cribbage there are additional points which can be won based on the different hands that are held and laid down. A total of exactly 15 will give 2 points, consecutive cards of the same value or a run of three also adds extra points. Cribbage can be played endlessly and is one of the most popular card games because of its scoring system and the fact that you can enjoy playing it for a long time with the chance to win more and more points and play extra rounds. Although very popular in the early 1900's it lost its popularity over the last century but is now gaining recognition and popularity again.
