Sports Party Themes

It is always a lot of fun to try and arrange a party with an interesting theme that provides the party background entertainment. A particularly fun theme that can be adopted is the sports theme. This theme is obviously appropriate when the party goers are all sportsmen or sports fans. This is just as true with regular party goers who want to try something novel.

Many Themes for Many Sports

The truth is that there are many different sports and thus many different ways of achieving the desired sports theme. For example, some sports are well suited for actually playing the sport during the party. Thus, a ping-pong themed party could simply include a ping-pong tournament as part of the attraction. Of course, not all parties or party goers are suitable for such arrangements (there are sports which are decidedly inappropriate for being part of a party and there are party goers who might not be able to participate at a sport or who might be known to be significantly better than everyone else - either way the problem is a nearly insurmountable one!). Another possibility which presents itself is that of watching a sports film. The requisites for such a party are that the participants are all sufficiently enthusiastic fans to enjoy such sitting and watching such a film. Finally the party could be about the sport without actually directly involving it.

Indirect Sports Themes

A party which includes the sports theme in such a roundabout way as described in the previous paragraph might be considered to have an indirect sports theme. Two examples of this are a culinary sports theme and a sports trivia game. In a culinary sports theme the food served somehow represents the sport selected. This might be as simple as serving beer, hotdogs, soft drinks and popcorn at a baseball themed party (participants might also be required to wear baseball caps - for example). More challenging and elaborate methods might be matching team colors with the foods or constructing an appropriately designed and decorated cake. Sports trivia is another great way to create a sports theme. The sports fans at the party can then compete regarding their esoteric sports knowledge. Of course, this article describes many separate methods but there is really no reason for such elements not to be combined in all kinds of fun ways.
